The Nature Conservancy has started a very worthy project that I have donated to. I thought visitors to The Herb Cottage might be interested in also donating to the worthy effort. Here's some more info on the project: The trees will be planted by Conservancy staff and partners working in The Atlantic Forest of Brazil. The Atlantic Forest is considered one of the world's most endangered tropical forests -- only 7% of its original area remains. Tropical forests like this one play a particularly special role in the fight to end global climate change. And this reforestation effort to Plant a Billion Trees in The Atlantic Forest will remove 10 million tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere every year -- that's like taking 2 million cars off the road. PLEASE CLICK ON THE PICTURE BELOW AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. ON BEHALF OF THE NATURE CONSERVANCY AND OUR PLANET, THANK YOU What are you looking for? Search The Herb Cottage website from the search box below. Type in a common or botanical name, vegetable variety or subject. If I have information on that plant or the plant's name is in a document on the web site, the search results will link you to the appropriate page. The Herb Cottage Website is a source for information about herb growing and gardening, with an emphasis on growing and gardening in the humid south where winters are mild and summers are very hot and humid with the occasional hurricane or drenching rain. As with many part of the country, the weather seems to have become more extreme, and as gardeners, we have to learn to do our best to cope with the weather. We sure can't change it!! The Herb Cottage does not sell plants by mail, but the plant pages are full of useful information about herbs and vegetables. The listings contain information about the plants for you to use when you are planning your garden, considering new plantings or just want to research a plant. Please see the 2008 Seeds for Sale for a terrific selection of high quality seeds from Botanical Interests Seeds, one of the few independent, family owned seed companies left in this country. The Herb Cottage Nursery is located in Lavaca County, Texas. I grow and sell herb plants, including culinary herb plants and medicinal herb plants as well as a selection of heirloom vegetable seedlings in season. I also carry Olive Trees that will grow olives when mature. I use natural growing practices in the greenhouse and outdoors. I am proud to sell high quality plants that will grow well in your garden with normal cultivation and care. And, please, don't hesitate to contact me after you've grown your plants for a while if you have further questions or comments. |
