The Herb Cottage is located in rural South Central Texas among pastureland and many live oak trees, some hundreds of year old. We’re under 2 hours from Houston, San Antonio, Austin and the central Gulf Coast.
What’s at The Herb Cottage?
Herb beds showcasing common and not-so-common herbs that grow here in Texas are situated around the property. I love to talk gardening and share my knowledge of more than 25 years growing and using herbs. Come and walk the gardens and marvel at all the herbs we can grow here.
There are plants for sale in the greenhouse and on the outdoor shelving. I keep a selection of herbs, succulents and various other plants in stock and ready for your garden, deck or patio. You’ll get all the growing advice you need to keep your plant healthy for years to come.
Is your interest in herbs? I will give you not only growing advice, but also ideas on how to use those herbs to their best advantage for your cooking adventures and good health.
Beyond growing herbs for kitchen use, I relish the gifts they have to offer us for good health and wellness.

I carry herb tea blends to support you every day whether you need a pick-me-up or to stop a busy mind so you can get a good night’s sleep. Infused herbal oils moisturize and soothe dry, chapped skin. Try it on heels, elbows, even lips.
I sell bulk dried herbs, teas and my own herbal tea blends and body care products I make in my kitchen. Come and talk with me about an herbs- how to grow them, use them and enjoy them.

My philosophy regarding herbs and herbalism is simple. The plants are our allies. Herbs are all around us to be cultivated, enjoyed, studied, used and honored. Growing herbs teaches us to read the plants to learn their needs, where they like to grow and what conditions make them happiest. This practice can be used when growing any plants. Learn to know the plants and you’ll be able to see whether your plant is in its happy place.
The use of herbs for health, wellness and medicine is another way to learn about the plants. When I make my tea blends or even use just one herb for a tea, I think about the qualities of the plant- where it grows, when is it best harvested for use, how does it make me feel. My herbal products reflect the plants used in them. To me, it always comes back to the plants- how they smell, feel and taste. What do they look like growing? Even if I can’t grow all the plants I use, I like knowing where the plants are grown, in what conditions do they thrive and are they harvested with love.
