The Herb Cottage is located in northern Lavaca County, TX surrounded by farmland and gently rolling hills, groves of live oak trees and cattle. It’s an easy place to find just ½ mile off a main highway.

Where
The Herb Cottage is located in rural South Central Texas among many live oak trees, some hundreds of year old, and pastureland. We’re under 2 hours from Houston, San Antonio, Austin and the central Gulf Coast.
What you’ll find
Herb beds showcasing common and not-so-common herbs that grow here in Texas are situated around the property. I love to talk gardening and share my knowledge of more than 25 years growing and using herbs. Come and walk the gardens and marvel at all the herbs we can grow here.
Beyond growing herbs, I relish the gifts they have to offer us as food and medicine. In that vein, I have opened the Cottage Herbal Apothecary at The Herb Cottage. I sell bulk dried herbs, teas and my own herbal tea blends and body care products I make in my little shop. There is lots of information about using herbs, making tea and other wellness products.
Plants
I focus on herbs of all kinds. You’ll find culinary herbs you might have never seen as well as native and adapted medicinal herbs you can grow.
I grow lots of succulents, including rare and hard to find varieties as well as old favorites to replace those in your care that may have succumbed to winter’s frost or other problems. I can help with care suggestions as well as recommendations for all types of growing locations.
Apothecary
In the Cottage Herbal Apothecary you’ll find dried herbs in bulk as well as tea, tea accessories and my hand made body care products, incense, smudge sticks and more. This is the only place in the local area you’ll find such a selection.
Around the area
One of the great things about visiting The Herb Cottage from out of town is how many other things there are are to do in the area. There are wineries, the Spoetzel Brewery in Shiner – home of Shiner Bock Beer – is just a few miles away, bed and breakfasts and lots of shopping in surrounding towns.
